Republic with a presidential democratic
system of government. Cyprus is expected
to join the EU on 1st May 2004. It is also
a member state of the Commonwealth, United
Nations and Council of Europe.
Cyprus is littered with reminders of the
island's history. The cultural heritage
of the island stretches back more than 9000
years. Relics from everywhere Greek temples,
Roman mosaics and 15th century frescoes
influence the life on the island. Many villages
specialize in a particular art form and
as you travel around Cyprus you will see
pottery, silver and copperware, basket weaving,
tapestry and Lefkaritika famous lacework.

Cyprus unique climate, rich history, busy
cultural life, concerts, opera, painting,
dance, museums, art galleries, traditional

Cyprus becomes more and more popular every
year. To some people it is an old favourite;
to others making a first visit, it is a
delightful discovery.
Whether your preference
is lazing in sun, investigating history,
engaging in watersports or exploring the
Island's diverse countryside by jeep, Cyprus
has something to offer everyone.
Nightlife can be a quiet
meal in a traditional tavern, a more exotic
location such as the Japanese, Mexican,
Italian, Thai, Brazilian, Indian or Chinese
restaurant or the nightclubs that offer
entertainment until the small hours of the
morning. |

Aya Napa
Originally a fishing village, it is now
a major tourist resort. The charming medieval
monastery dedicated to 'our lady of the
forests' stands in the middle of the village.
Its 16th-century church is partly underground
and cut into the rock. The sycamore tree
in front of the south gate is believed to
be over600 years old. Visit the maritime
museim, the fun-fairs, Nissi Beach or Makronissos
beach.
Ayia Napa was a very poor
village and the people were struggling to
make ends meet, the only income came from
the fishing port. After the invasion in
1974 from Turkey, Famagusta lost all the
revenue from the tourist industry and Ayia
Napa was born. For the young we have the
centre of Ayia Napa that caters for their
night life with clubs and bars and if this
is not to your requirements, we have the
out skirts that offers peace and tranquility.
Ayia Napa is one of the most popular tourist
spots in Cyprus. Over the years Ayia Napa
has grown into a popular holiday resort
with its beautiful beaches and tourist attractions.
It has grown and grown and with its crystal
blue sea and golden sands, Ayia Napa has
become popular and is visited by many people
from all over the world. Today it has also
became well known for its night clubs and
bars which cater for all age groups. Ayia
Napa has so much to offer whether you're
young or old. If you're interested in culture
there are many places to visit and because
the island is only a 1½ hour drive
long, you can visit anywhere on a day trip
where you will receive everything from Cypriot
hospitality to a really enjoyable holiday.
This is our ultimate goal, good food, good
service and great hospitality. Cyprus is
an island to be enjoyed by all who visit
her.

Protaras The town
of Protaras is the ideal place to lay back
and forget your worries. With its golden
white sand and crystal clear waters, Protaras
turns into a reality the sought-after concept
of a stress-free life. Protaras was once
a little village that relied on agriculture
and fishing, it is now however becoming
independent from the land and sea. High
rugged cliffs overlook the small bays, where
it is not unlikely to spot a remote fish
taverna, serving the catch of the day. With
more and more restaurants and bars opening
up, there is really no need to leave the
town; after all you have everything within
walking distance including the beach. Protaras
is an ideal resort for those who appreciate
being surrounded by nature, but also like
the choice.
This is a more calm resort compared to Ayia
Napa even though it is only 10 minutes away
by car. Protaras is situated between Cape
Greco and the village of Paralimni and boasts
the fabulous Fig Tree Bay, which stretches
over 10 miles of sandy Beach. While lying
on the beach you will have the opportunity
to decide which of Protaras' many restaurants
you will try that evening. Protaras is the
place to try freshly grilled fish in one
of the open-air seafood restaurants or take
a pick from the several types including
Thai, Chinese, Brazilian, Mexican, Italian,
Indian and many others. Protaras also offers
a good choice of shops, tavernas, nightclubs
and bars.

Paralimni village
since the Turkish military occupation of
famagusta in 1974, this small town has become
the temporary administrative center of the
district. The twin-aisled vaulted church,
dedicated to the Virgin Mary (panagia),
is decorated with unusual 18th century porcelain
plates. The church, parts of which belong
to the 13th century, houses a small ecclesiastical
museum.
Deryneia Village
The village has three intresting churches,
dating from the 15th and 17th centuries.
There 's also a good view of the 'ghost
city' of Ammochostos, now under occupation
by the Turkish forces, and eerily empty
of people.
Sotira Village
Here you'll find the partly ruined church
of Agios Mamas, which was built in the 12th
century and rebuilt in the 16th. The most
of the surviving frescoes date from then.
About 15km to the west is the church of
Agios Georgios, an early Christian basilica.
Liopetri Village
There is a 16th-century church dedicated
to the Virgin Mary and the 15th-century
church of Agios Andronikos, with an octagonal
dome and murals. Liopetri still carries
on the traditional craft of basket-making.
Frenaros Village
The village of Frenaros has its own small
Byzantine churches. Two of them, the Agios
Andronikos and the Archangelos Michail,
date back to the 12th century. The church
of Agia Marina has some intresting frescoes
painted by different artists.
Potamos Liopetriou
A picturesque fishing refuge. Nearby are
the remains of a Venetian watch-tower. The
French poet Arthur Rimbaud worked in this
area in the 1880s.
AYIA THEKLA
The church of Ayia Thekla is one of the
oldest spots in the area dating back to
the middle ages. It sits in a peaceful setting,
fronted by the beautiful turquoise Mediterranean
Sea and surrounded by natural flora. A small
sandy beach also lies here with a tiny island
just of the shore that keeps the waves away.
Legend has it that the church over the centuries
has suffered severe damage caused by the
many armies that conquered the island through
time. The church in its present condition
dates back to the beginning of the last
century.

Recently the area around
this historic monument has attracted some
residential development due to its attractive
setting and climate. During the springtime
the area abounds in the natural colours
of wild flowers and un-spoilt greenery,
which compliments perfectly the rocky coastline.
This rare combination of history and natural
beauty is considered by many to be the place
to live.
Approximatley a few kilometers from the
center of Ayia Napa, a ten and 15 minute
drive respectively from Paralimni and Protaras
and about 20 minutes from Larnaca. Ayia
Thekla is perfect for those who seek the
privacy and seclusion of a residential area
but still want to be within easy reach of
the 4 major resorts and towns of the area.
VRYSOULLES VILLAGE
A lush village that is
full of orange groves and olive trees, Vrysoulles
is located somewhere 10 kilometers away
from the town of Paralimni, and 5 kilometers
away from the occupied town of Famagusta.
On the beginning of the previous century,
the village used to have only few families
as residents, however, after the Turkish
invasion on middle of the 1970's, it has
attracted few thousands of residents, including
the workforce of the British Army Bases,
of Ayios Nicolaos.
For the moment, Vrysoulles offers most of
the amenities of a small village, including
supermarkets, restaurants, pubs and schools.
Vrysoulles has also been very popular for
its incredible taverns, where people can
enjoy all type of cuisines, in a very gracious
environment.
In fact, on the village
now there are different kinds of restaurants,
and most of them are admired for the appetizing
food, and low prices they offer. In addition,
the village is very quiet, and is really
offered for people who are looking to retire
in a peaceful environment out on the nature,
away from pressure and stress.
The life back in the village, is always
calm and tranquil, and all the people get
together every night to have fun in the
taverns and pubs existing around .
